Todd Gurley hasn’t played NFL football since his one-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons expired after the 2020 season and hasn’t signed with another team. But instead, focused on business ventures, he became part-owner of the Beasts of the Fan Controlled Football League.

Gurley still enjoys watching the NFL and saw another former team, the Rams, win the Super Bowl last February. But that doesn’t mean he wants to return to the field.

“There was never a time when I watched a game and thought, ‘I wish I was there,'” Gurley told NBC LX. “I’ve enjoyed my time in the league and done things I never even could have dreamed of.”

Gurley said he was happy to see his former football colleagues win the Championship and particularly happy for Jalen Ramsey and Aaron Donald.

“Guys like Darrell Henderson. So you guys are always excited for it. It’s never just about you. Yeah, everybody would like a ring. But at the end of the day, it’s about being able to congratulate and then see other guys succeed and be happy for them.

Gurley, who is only 27, has yet to officially retire from football, but as he remains happy with the achievements of his friends, he seems equally happy off the pitch.

Gurley played for the Falcons for just one season in 2020, rushing for 678 yards on 195 carries, catching 25 passes for 164 yards and scoring nine touchdowns. While with the Rams organization, he made the Pro Bowl three times and won the AP Offensive Rookie of the. Year in 2015 and AP Offensive Player of the Year in 2017.
