West Kimberley Football League teams are preparing for the season with a rebound in a few weeks

The West Kimberley Football League is set for another successful season after fixtures were announced last week and teams warmed up for the start date at the end of April.

The first round will begin with the men’s teams on Friday April 29 at the Broome Recreation and Aquatic Center with the Broome Bulls vs Towns game starting at 6pm and the women’s teams will play after.

This will be followed by six games at BRAC on Saturday, with Bidyadanga Emus v Derby Tigers, Looma Eagles v Peninsula Bombers and Broome Saints v Cable Beach Greenbacks.

A rematch between the big runners-up – Cable Beach Women’s Teams and the Looma Eagles – won’t take place until the third round on Friday, May 13.

The 2021 men’s grand finalists, Derby Tigers and Cable Beach Greenbacks, will face off in the fourth round on Saturday, May 21.

Cable Beach dominated the competition last season, with both the men’s and women’s teams winning the premiership title.

The Greenbacks crushed the Derby Tigers in the men’s grand final 103-55.

The margin was a little less in the women’s grand final, but Cable Beach managed to win again by beating the Looma Eagles by 19 points, 46-27.

The Derby Tigers on the men’s side and the Looma Eagles on the women’s side are ones to watch this season as they will surely be looking for revenge against the Cable Beach Greenbacks.
